General Objectives
To place selected students in appropriate life skills and training courses, with necessary financial assistance for tuition and accommodation
To provide post training support for these students
To involve the parents and targeted communities in the vision of SLOT
To raise and generate the necessary finances that will enable SLOT to achieve its Mission Statement
To build effective networks with other organizations with similar aims and philosophies
To help increase every individuals chance of employment
Beneficiaries
It is important to note that in South Africa youth refers to any person between the age 18 and 35 years.
According to National Statistics KwaZulu Natal (KZN) has the highest incidence of HIV/Aids and consequently the highest number of youth without parental support. The latter form a large number of SLOT's intake.
In addition KZN has a 40% rate of unemployment, the majority of whom are youth. Any people in this category are worthy beneficiaries regardless of race, sex or cultural differences.
Any out-of-school youth of poverty and disadvantaged circumstances, who have limited opportunity or financial resources to study further, are also eligible.
