Last week Wednesday saw the launch of the Golden Gateway Project. SLOT together with Hulamin, Somta and Sthil (Local Businesses) launched a the Golden Gateway Project. The aim of the project is to create jobs, and to help in cleaning the city of Pietermaritzburg, and then to later on help young people to form micro and medium enterprises within the Piertermaritzburg area.

The first phase of the project is to clean the Moses Mabhida road. A sign has been erected on the Moses Mabhida road, which indicates that the 1.6km stretch of road has been adopted by the project. The project is a great way to help create jobs and also to help businesses and young people to take pride and joy in their city. SLOT is hoping that more businesses will come on board with the cleaning project and look to give back to the city and the community. Those cleaning the road can be seen wearing green and yellow uniforms. Reports from businesses in the area, are that the road and surrounding area has never looked better.

The staff here at SLOT are happy at the launch of this project, because it will benefit a lot of unemployed youth.

If you or your business are interested in participating in the Golden Gateway Project, please contact the SLOT offices.
